The City of Nelsonville will be closing the following streets to vehicle traffic and parking starting at 7:00 PM Thursday, October 17th through 7:00 PM, Saturday, October 19th. 

  • Nelsonville Public Square
  • West Columbus Street from September Street to Rocky Boot Way
  • East Columbus Street from Rocky Boot Way to 50 East Columbus Street
  • Rocky Boot Way from Columbus Street to Canal Street
  • Fayette Street from Rocky Boot Way to EMS Station

These streets are being closed for the 23rd Annual Ohio Smoked Meat and BBQ Festival being held in Nelsonville this weekend.  Please watch for increased pedestrian traffic and use alternate routes to avoid the area.

Nelsonville Cable Alley closed 7:30AM to 4:30PM, Mon, 9/16 to Fri, 9/27 for construction at the library, avoid area

The City of Nelsonville announces that Cable Alley beside the Nelsonville Public Library will be closed between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM From Monday, September 16, 2019 until Friday, September 27, 2019 for construction work at the library. The alley will be open on the weekend to traffic.

Please use an alternate route around this area.

Nelsonville Franklin St sweeping Thu, 9/12 and Fri, 9/13, no parking on Franklin St until sweeping is completed each day

The City of Nelsonville announces that on Thursday, September 12, 2019 and Friday, September 13, 2019 the Nelsonville Street Department will be sweeping Franklin Street if it is not raining. On Thursday, sweeping will be on the Odd Number side of Franklin Street. On Friday, sweeping will be on Even Number side of Franklin Street. The City is requesting that no cars park on Franklin Street until the sweeping is completed each day.

Please park on side streets if possible until sweeping is completed. Thank you for your cooperation.

The City of Nelsonville announces that set up for The Parade of The Hills Festival will begin this weekend. Street closures will begin on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at 12:00 PM and remain closed through Sunday, August 18, 2019, at 12:00 PM. Full street closure with NO limited access is due to pedestrian safety concerns from prior years.

The following streets will be closed to all traffic:

  • West Washington Street from Post Office to Fort Street
  • West Columbus Street from Library to 45 East Columbus Street
  • Rocky Boot Way from Public Square to alley by the Elks
  • Public Square

Please expect vendor, carnival rides and pedestrian traffic throughout the area. Please use caution in the area during the Festival and please consider using an alternate route.

Nelsonville Poplar St sweeping Thu, 8/8/19, Fri, 8/9/19, 3AM until complete, please no parking on street during sweeping

The City of Nelsonville announces that on Thursday, August 8, 2019 and Friday, August 9, 2019 the Nelsonville Street Department will be sweeping Poplar Street if it is not raining. The sweeping will occur from 3:00 AM until completed. The City is requesting that no cars park on Poplar Street until the sweeping is completed.

Nelso Road Closed

The City of Nelsonville announces that the Public Square will be closed on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM until Friday, June 28, 2019 at 1:00 AM. The Public Square is being closed for the “Fare on the Square” dinner for the benefit of the Southeast Ohio Foodbank and Kitchen. The event is being sponsored by the Rocky Community Improvement Fund and is being hosted by Hocking Athens Perry Community Action. Please come out and support this event.

Nelso Road Work

The City of Nelsonville announces that Riverside Drive will be reduced to one lane of traffic on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, while engineers are drilling on the roadway. Nelsonville Police will be directing traffic throughout the day.

Please use caution when traveling on Riverside Drive, or use an alternate route.

Nelso Road Closed

The City of Nelsonville announces that Dorr Run Road will be closed North of Lengyel Lane on Monday, June 17, 2019 through Wednesday, June 19, 2019. The roadway is being closed for culvert and storm drain repairs and replacement. The City of Nelsonville apologizes for any inconvenience the repairs may cause.

The City of Nelsonville announces that Chestnut Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic between East Canal Street and Burr Oak Boulevard on Thursday, May 23, 2019 and Friday, May 24, 2019, from 8:45 AM – 5:00 PM, while engineers are working on the roadway. Nelsonville Police will be directing traffic throughout the day in the area.
