Nelsonville E Canal St, SR691 to South “Y” single lane 8AM to 6:30 PM daily until end of April, use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that East Canal Street from State Route 691 to the South “Y” will be restricted to a single lane from 8:00 AM until 6:30 PM daily until the end of April. For the workers safety the work zone is being restricted to one lane with traffic lights on both ends. This construction is to install new sanitary sewer lines for the new wastewater treatment plant on Elm Rock Road.

Please remember that even temporary traffic lights are to be treated the same as all other traffic control devices. Please use an alternate route when possible and be patient when travelling though the designated work zone.

Nelsonville Short St closed, Fort St to Kontner St, 3/25/2020 through 3/27/2020, 7AM to 5PM, please use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that Short Street will be closed from Fort Street to Kontner Street, Wednesday, March 25, 2020, Thursday, March 26, 2020 and Friday, March 27, 2020.  The roadway will be closed each day from 7:00AM until 5:00PM.  The roadway is being closed for an R&R Pipeline gas line repair project, weather permitting.  Please use an alternate route.

The City of Nelsonville announces that the Public Square will be closed on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. The Public Square is being closed for the Athens Bando Kickboxing Club 5K walk-fun run. The 5K walk-fun run will also be using Washington, Jefferson, Poplar, Campbell, Pine Grove, Columbus, Franklin, Madison, Grosvenor and Findley Streets.

Please use caution when traveling in theses areas or use an alternate route.

Nelsonville Riverside Drive CLOSURE, Mon, 11/11/19 to Sat, 01/11/20, for slip repair, DETOUR for SEORJ, use caution

The City of Nelsonville announces that Riverside Drive will be CLOSED to traffic from Monday, November 11, 2019 until Saturday, January 11, 2020. The roadway is being closed for a slip repair.

DETOUR DIRECTIONS

  1. From East Canal Street travel South on State Route 691.
  2. At the split continue straight/slight right onto Kimberly Road, County Road 1
  3. Just past REACH/Old Poston School turn right onto Wolfe-Bennett Road, County Road 73 (Use Caution as this is a narrow and winding road)
  4. Continue past Cullison Road (on the left) until you come to a “T” intersection.
  5. Continue right at the “T” intersection staying on Wolfe-Bennett Road.
  6. Continue on Wolfe-Bennett Road until you reach the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail at 16677 Riverside Drive on your left.

Nelsonville Public Square, Columbus, Fayette, Rocky Boot Way CLOSED, 7PM Thu, 10/17 to 7PM, Sat, 10/19, avoid the area

The City of Nelsonville will be closing the following streets to vehicle traffic and parking starting at 7:00 PM Thursday, October 17th through 7:00 PM, Saturday, October 19th. 

  • Nelsonville Public Square
  • West Columbus Street from September Street to Rocky Boot Way
  • East Columbus Street from Rocky Boot Way to 50 East Columbus Street
  • Rocky Boot Way from Columbus Street to Canal Street
  • Fayette Street from Rocky Boot Way to EMS Station

These streets are being closed for the 23rd Annual Ohio Smoked Meat and BBQ Festival being held in Nelsonville this weekend.  Please watch for increased pedestrian traffic and use alternate routes to avoid the area.

Nelsonville Cable Alley closed 7:30AM to 4:30PM, Mon, 9/16 to Fri, 9/27 for construction at the library, avoid area

The City of Nelsonville announces that Cable Alley beside the Nelsonville Public Library will be closed between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM From Monday, September 16, 2019 until Friday, September 27, 2019 for construction work at the library. The alley will be open on the weekend to traffic.

Nelsonville Franklin St sweeping Thu, 9/12 and Fri, 9/13, no parking on Franklin St until sweeping is completed each day

The City of Nelsonville announces that on Thursday, September 12, 2019 and Friday, September 13, 2019 the Nelsonville Street Department will be sweeping Franklin Street if it is not raining. On Thursday, sweeping will be on the Odd Number side of Franklin Street. On Friday, sweeping will be on Even Number side of Franklin Street. The City is requesting that no cars park on Franklin Street until the sweeping is completed each day.

Please park on side streets if possible until sweeping is completed. Thank you for your cooperation.
