Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous November 2019, Crimes of the Month

The following incident has been listed by Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous as the November 2019 Crimes of the Month.

The Athens Police Department is requesting your information pertaining to crimes which occurred in the City. 

#1 –
On September 5, 2019 at 12:155 AM, the Athens Police Department responded to Rufus Dr. for an armed robbery that had just occurred.  The victim explained they were approached by a white male, thin build, 5’8” tall, wearing a dark colored shirt and had short dark colored hair.  A handgun was pointed at the victim and the suspect was provided a wallet.  The suspect then fled to an early 2000’s model black four door car which was waiting nearby. 

Shortly after the aforementioned robbery was reported to police, 20 minutes later, an officer was flagged down by an individual on S. Shafer St.  The individual advised they were just robbed at gunpoint.  The individual described the suspect as 5’7” tall, thin build, dark hair, and a scruffy goatee.  The suspect went to a waiting car and fled the area.  The board has approved a $2000 reward for these combined incidences.

#2 – On October 28, 2019 at 9:40 PM, the Athens Police Department and the Athens Fire Department responded to East Park Dr, near the Athens Wastewater Treatment Facility, for a vehicle fire.  When agencies arrived, the vehicle, a Toyota Tacoma P/U, was found fully engulfed in flames and no one around.  The fire was extinguished but the vehicle is a total loss.  The board has approved a $2000 reward for this incident.     

Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous is offering a cash reward for information on the above crime if that information leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible.  *Information on serious misdemeanors will be limited up to a $1000.00 cash reward.  **Any information that leads to the arrest of an individual responsible for graffiti, the board can authorize up to a $500.00 cash reward. Due to predicted heavy rains Nelsonville Trick-Or-Treat; Beggar’s Night rescheduled to Sat, 11/02/19, 2PM to 4PM

The City of Nelsonville announces that due to predicted heavy rains on Thursday, Trick-Or-Treat; Beggar’s Night has been rescheduled to Saturday, November 2, 2019, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM.  Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while driving in the Nelsonville area and watch for the children during this time period.

Nelsonville boil order for Watkins St from Myers St to Polly Field and Patton St, until further notice

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for the following areas. Watkins Street from Myers Street to Polly Field and Patton Street.

The Boil Order has been issued due to a repair for a leak on the mainline. When a boil order is in effect, we ask those affected to boil their drinking and cooking water for three minutes before being consumed.

This Boil Order is in effect until further notice, unless notified otherwise.

Nelsonville BOIL ORDER, Hocking College, E Canal from Chestnut to Elm Rock, Elm Rock RD, SR691 from E Canal to Kimberly RD

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for the following areas. The Hocking College Campus, East Canal Street from Chestnut Street to Elm Rock Road, Elm Rock Road, State Route 691 from East Canal Street to Kimberly Road.

The Boil Order has been issued due to a repair for a leak on the mainline. When a boil order is in effect, we ask those affected to boil their drinking and cooking water for three minutes before being consumed.

This Boil Order is in effect until further notice, unless notified otherwise.

Nelsonville Boil Order Canceled for Buchtel Area and parts of Nelsonville

The City of Nelsonville Water Department has canceled the boil order for the following areas. The Village of Buchtel, Burr Oak Boulevard, Runyon Lane, Blair Court, Sylvania Avenue, Woodlane Drive, Crihfield Drive, Hillside Drive, Carbon Hill Buchtel Road from Woodland Road to Sandy Lane, Sandy Lane, Shady (Dew) Lane. We would like to thank those affected by this incident for their patience and understanding.

Nelsonville Planning and Development Committee meeting Mon, 10/21 at 7:45PM at City Hall, public is encouraged to attend

The City of Nelsonville Planning and Development Committee will be holding a meeting on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 7:45 PM. The meeting is being held to discuss the Public Square outdoor seating permit and ordinance regarding wheels on the Square and sidewalks. The meeting is being held at City Hall. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Burr Oak Boulevard from US Route 33 over pass to the Village of Buchtel, The Village of Buchtel, Runyon Lane, Blair Court, Sylvania Avenue, Woodlane Drive, Crihfield Drive, Hillside Drive, Carbon Hill Buchtel Road from Woodland Road to Sandy Lane, Sandy Lane, Shady (Dew) Lane.
