The City of Nelsonville Planning and Development Committee held a meeting on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 7:00PM. The meeting was held to discuss Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA) legislation for Nelsonville.

Nelsonville Aquatic Center Adult Swim Party Fri, 7/8/22, 7PM to 10PM, 18+ Only, Admission $4, Information 740-753-7003

The Nelsonville Aquatic Center will be sponsoring an adult swim party on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 7:00PM until 10:00PM. The adult swim party is limited to persons over the age of 18 only. Admission for the adult swim party is $4.00 per person, season and individual passes are not valid during this special event. The public is invited to come out and enjoy an adult only night at the Nelsonville Aquatic Center. No alcoholic beverages are permitted.

Nelsonville Aquatics Center will be starting swimming lessons on Mon, 7/18/22, Call (740) 753-7003

The Nelsonville Aquatics Center will be starting swimming lessons on Monday, July 18, 2022. Lessons are available for groups, individuals, infants, adolescents, and basic and advanced techniques. All instructors are certified lifeguards with CPR and first aid training.

Nelsonville residents need large item sticker for large item collection, call Nelsonville Utilities Department 740-753-2151

The City of Nelsonville wants to remind Nelsonville residents that you must have a City Utility Office large item sticker for large item collection. Whether you are cleaning out your house, or making room for that new appliance or couch, sometimes you need to get rid of things that do not fit in your waste cart. The good news is you can still get rid of those large item’s curbside with the Nelsonville large item sticker program.

Large item collection includes household items such as couches, chairs, mattresses, tables, appliances, carpets, padding and similar large items that will not fit into the waste wheeler. Do not place extra bags or cans of trash out for a large item pickup, this service is only intended for items that are too large to fit in your trash container.

Large item stickers can be purchased for $5, by calling the City of Nelsonville Utilities Department at (740) 753-2151 or stop by Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:00 pm at 211 Laker Hope Drive, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764.

Nelsonville boil order, Starr Village Apts until Wed, 6/29/22, at 11AM, boil cooking and drinking water for 3 minutes

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for water customers in Starr Village Apartments until Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 11:00AM, unless notified otherwise. This boil order is due to a leak repair on the mainline.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three minutes before being consumed.

Nelsonville Clinton St closed and no parking Tue, 6/28/22, 7AM to 6PM, please avoid this area and use an alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that Clinton Street from Oak Street to Fort Street will be closed to traffic Tuesday, June 28, 2022, between the hours of 7:00AM and 6:00PM. There is also no parking during this time period. The street is being closed so the that it can be repaved. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

2022 Thunder In The Valley fireworks spectacular parking map for Mon, 7/4/22 on the Hocking College Campus

The annual “Thunder In The Valley” fireworks spectacular is scheduled for Monday, July 4, 2022 on the Hocking College Campus. Parking is available at Hocking College, and plenty of seating is available on the fields and lots. No Parking will be permitted on Hocking Parkway or State Route 691. With construction projects on campus Hocking College has released a 2022 map for parking which is downloadable at https://tinyurl.com/22z8zm64. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the Hocking College Campus. The show can be viewed from most areas of Nelsonville as it lights up the hills of Southeast Ohio.

The Nelsonville Division of Fire is selling VIP tickets for the 2022 “Thunder In The Valley” fireworks spectacular. VIP vehicle parking passes can be purchased for $10.00. If you prefer to walk to the fireworks, you can purchase a VIP walk-in pass for $3.00 per person. Do not wait until the last minute to purchase a VIP parking pass, there are only a limited number of passes available. VIP tickets can be purchased at the Nelsonville Fire Department. The VIP area will open at 5:00PM on July 4th.
