The City of Nelsonville announces that all City offices will be closed on Monday, February 19, 2018 in observance of President’s Day. City offices will re-open for business on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 for regular business hours.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Athens County from 7pm, Wednesday, 2/14/18 until 7PM, Friday, 2/16/18.
A complex storm system has the potential to produce between 1 to 3 inches of rain from Wednesday evening through Friday evening. With the ground being saturated from previous rains, coupled with streams and rivers running high, this rain has the potential to cause flooding throughout the area.
Flooded roadways are a possibility, especially along streams, creeks and rivers. Flooding of Low lying, poor drainage areas, streams, creeks and rivers are possible.
All rivers in the watch area will see significant rises and could exceed flood stage.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The Nelsonville Street Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 7:00PM in council chambers at City Hall. The meeting is being held to discuss street paving. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The Buchtel Water and Sewer Department has CANCELED the boil order for the Village of Buchtel. The Buchtel Water and Sewer Department would like to thank Buchtel residents for their time and patience during this incident.
