ATHENS CO WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM, SAT, 2/17/18, WATCH FOR CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS!
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Athens County until 10:00 PM, Saturday, 2/17/18.
- WHAT – Snow. Additional snow accumulations from one to three inches are expected.
- WHERE – Portions of southeast Ohio and northern West Virginia.
- WHEN – Until 10 PM this evening.
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS – Plan on slippery road conditions. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.

ATHENS CO FLOOD WARNING UNTIL 12:45PM, FRI, 2/16/18, SEEK SHELTER IF THREATENED!
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for Small Streams in Athens County until 12:45 PM, Friday, 2/16/18.
At 648 AM, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that heavy rain was falling over the area. The heavy rain will cause flooding. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
