Athens Co FLOOD WATCH Wed 6/30/21, 11PM until Fri 7/2/21, 2AM, monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action
The National Weather Service has issued a FLOOD WATCH for portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, and West Virginia, including Athens County from 11PM, Wednesday 6/30/21 until Friday 7/2/21.
Several rounds of slow-moving thunderstorms are expected across the area through late Thursday night. Basin average rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches are expected, with localized higher amounts possible where multiple storms hit the same area. Despite recent dry conditions, localized flash flooding will be possible.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

The City of Nelsonville announces that all City offices will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021 in observance of the July 4th Independence Day Holiday. City offices will re-open for business on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 for regular business hours.
Nelsonville aquatic center reminder that children under 12 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for safety
The City of Nelsonville aquatic center staff would like to remind parents that children under 12 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult while at the aquatic center. Accompanied and supervised means that the supervising adult must remain in the pool deck area with children under 12. A supervising adult outside the pool deck area in the park, sitting in a vehicle in the parking area or anywhere else not within the paid area of the pool is not permitted.
A friendly reminder to everyone, smoking is not permitted at the Nelsonville aquatic center or in the park.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation, these rules are necessary for the safety of everyone at the Nelsonville aquatic center and park.
