ATHENS CO FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SAT, 1/1/22, 12AM until SUN, 1/2/22, 1AM, WATCH FOR CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS

The National Weather Service has issued a FLOOD WATCH for Athens County from Saturday, January 1, 2022, at 12AM until Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 1AM.

  • WHAT – Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Forecast rainfall amounts of 1.5 to as much as 3 inches are possible, beginning late tonight through Saturday night.
  • WHERE – Portions of southeast Ohio and West Virginia.
  • WHEN – Saturday, January 1, 2022, at 12AM until Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 1AM.
  • IMPACTS – Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Nelsonville FD annual Jim Conrad memorial Christmas toy giveaway, Thu, 12/16 or Fri, 12/17/21, 5PM to 8PM, NY School district

The Nelsonville Division of Fire is proud to again host the annual Jim Conrad memorial Christmas toy giveaway!  The event is open to all children who live in the Nelsonville-York School district. All you need to do is show up at the fire house Thursday, December 16 or Friday, December 17, 2021, between 5:00 P.M and 8:00P.M. to receive a toy!  Parents will need to bring a photo ID to verify their address.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. Parents and children must wear face mask to enter the building. Each child will receive one (1) toy. Santa will be on site to wave at the kids. Drivers should be patient and expect traffic delays on Lake Hope Drive around the Fire Department.
