The Nelsonville Fire Department has reopened East Canal Street and State Route 691 after completing an oil spill cleanup. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this incident.

The Nelsonville Fire Department has CLOSED State Route 691 from the intersection of East Canal Street to the US Route 33 including all on and off ramps until further notice due to an oil spill. Crews are on scene working on cleaning up the spilled oil and the roadway has been closed for their safety. Once the cleanup is completed the roadway will be reopened. Please use an alternate route and avoid the area.

The Nelsonville Fire Department will be closing the Nelsonville Public Square on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM for a 9-11 memorial service. The memorial service will start at 8:46 AM, the time American Airlines Flight 11, flew into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Additional times will be commemorated at,
Local emergency responders, along with the citizens they protect, will take time out of their work day to commemorate the terrorist attacks in New York City, and Washington, D.C., and the bravery of the passengers that went down with the plane in Shanksville, PA on September 11, 2001. The commemoration ceremonies will honor the 2,507 civilians, 72 law enforcement officers, 343 firefighters, 10 emergency medical workers, and 55 military service personnel who lost their lives, or gave their lives saving others. Many first responders are still fighting for their lives, and others are losing their lives, because of their response to Ground Zero. Each year we lose a few more.
Everyone is encouraged to take a few minutes and acknowledge the loss to the country and the victim’s families…mark the day, and remember…, so that WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

The City of Nelsonville announces that Scott Street will be closed from Pleasantview Avenue to Grover Street, Tuesday, August 18, 2020 through Friday, August 21, 2020. The roadway will be closed each day from 7:00AM until 5:00PM. Traffic will be detoured onto Fairview Street. Scott Street will be open to traffic during non-work hours.

The City of Nelsonville announces that Pleasantview Avenue will be closed from Fort Street to Scott Street, Thursday, August 13, 2020 through Monday, August 17, 2020, weekdays only. The roadway will be closed each day from 7:00AM until 5:00PM. Traffic will be detoured onto Scott Street. Flaggers will be at each end of Scott Street and detour the traffic around Pleasantview Avenue on Scott Street during work hours. Pleasantview Avenue will be open to traffic during non-work hours.
