Nelsonville boil order canceled for Madison St, W Franklin St, and Lancaster St, thank you for your patience

The City of Nelsonville Water Department has canceled the boil order for Madison Street from West Franklin Street to Edwards Street, West Franklin Street from Madison Street to Adams Street, Lancaster Street from Sheppard Street to Clinton Street.

Due to social distancing recommendations on preventing the spread of the COVID-19, Nelsonville City Council will be meeting in regular session Monday, June 22, 2020 at 7PM via a virtual meeting. The public may not attend the meeting in person. The meeting will be live streamed from the City of Nelsonville Facebook Page, (City of Nelsonville, Ohio, @nelsonvillecity). Citizens comments and business and organizational comments may be made to council by Emailing them to councilclerk@cityofnelsonville.com, no later than 12PM Monday, June 22, 2020. The public is invited and encouraged to attend virtually online.

The City of Nelsonville Police and Fire Committee will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 7:00PM. The meeting is being held to discuss boarding and cleaning up condemned houses and properties and to discuss fire equipment. The public may not attend the meeting in person. Nelsonville Short St closed from Fort St to Kontner St Tue, 6/23/2020 to Fri, 6/26/2020, 7AM to 6PM, use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that Short Street will be closed from Fort Street to Kontner Street, Tuesday, June 23, 2020 through Friday, June 26, 2020.  The roadway will be closed each day from 7:00AM until 6:00PM.  The roadway is being closed for an R&R Pipeline gas line repair project, weather permitting.  Please use an alternate route.

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for Madison Street from West Franklin Street to Edwards Street, West Franklin Street from Madison Street to Adams Street, Lancaster Street from Sheppard Street to Clinton Street.

The Boil Order has been issued due to the repair of a fire hydrant. When a boil order is in effect, we ask those affected to boil their drinking and cooking water for three minutes before being consumed.

This Boil Order is in effect until further notice, unless notified otherwise.

Nelsonville Chestnut St closed Thu, 6/18/20, 9AM, E Canal to Burr Oak until Oct, E Canal reopen to traffic

The City of Nelsonville announces that East Canal Street at the Chestnut Street South “Y”, will reopen to traffic Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 9:00AM. At the same time Chestnut Street will be closed from East Canal Street at the South “Y” to Burr Oak Boulevard until October. Access to local residents and business will be maintained. This construction is to install new sanitary sewer lines for the new wastewater treatment plant on Elm Rock Road.

Please use an alternate route when possible and be patient when travelling though the designated work zone.

The City of Nelsonville, Ohio City Council held a virtual meeting Monday, June 15, 2020 at 7PM. The purpose of this meeting is to hold the final round of interviews for City Manager candidates. The interviews will take place during executive session and the final vote will take place in open session. City Council will also consider the following legislation:

  • A Resolution necessary pursuant to House Bill 481
  • Amendments to the 2020 appropriations ordinance
  • Ordinance to adopt water park fees
  • Ordinance declaring 253 Meyers Street dangerous and unsafe

The meeting was streamed on the City of Nelsonville Facebook Page (City of Nelsonville, Ohio, @nelsonvillecity).

We had a hard time hearing City Council, just as everyone else did. City Council returned from executive session at 10:18PM and a motion was made to hire Scott Frank as the permanent City Manager. Council by a 3-4 vote decided to not hire Scott Frank and then City Council adjourned.

Nelsonville Madison St closed W Franklin St to Cross St, Wed, 6/17/2020, 8AM to 4PM, use alternate route

The Nelsonville Water Department announces that Madison Street will be closed from West Franklin Street to Cross Street, Wednesday, June 17, 2020.  The roadway will be closed from 8:00AM until 4:00PM, during these times the water will be turned off to make emergency repairs to a fire hydrant. Once water service is restored, a boil order will be issued to the affected areas. Weather permitting. Please use an alternate route.
