Buchtel 2nd St boil order from Wagner St to dead end, in effect until Wed, 4/19/23, 3PM, affected boil cooking and drinking water

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for water customers on 2nd Street in Buchtel from Wagner Street to the dead end. The boil order will be in effect until Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 3:00PM, unless notified otherwise. This boil order is due to a water line break and repair.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three minutes before being consumed.

Increased fire danger threat Tuesday, April 18, 2023, for southeast Ohio including Athens County.

Very dry conditions are expected on Tuesday along with strong winds. Be very careful of heat and sparks while operating equipment, dispose of cigarettes properly, and follow local burn laws. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Ohio state law prohibits burning during the months of March, April, May, October and November from 6 AM to 6 PM.

Nelsonville Tunnel to Towers Foundation 5K run and walk, Sun, 4/30/22, 7AM to1PM, drive with caution, watch for pedestrians

The City of Nelsonville would like to remind the public of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation 5K run and walk, Sunday, April 30, 2022, between the hours of 7:00AM and 1:00PM. During these times the Nelsonville Public Square will be closed to vehicle traffic and parking. 5K participants will be on streets throughout Nelsonville. Additionally, many spectators are expected in the city. Drive with caution throughout Nelsonville and watch out for pedestrians. Nelsonville City Council accepting letters of interest for open City Council position

The City of Nelsonville is seeking people interested in filling one (1) open position for City Council member as soon as possible. To be considered for the City Council, the applicants must be a qualified elector who has been continuously a resident and a qualified elector of the City of one (1) year next prior to their election, and who is not the occupant of an incompatible office, shall be eligible to serve as a member of City Council. Each member of Council shall continue to be a resident and qualified elector of the City throughout their term of office, failing which Council shall remove them from office.
