A fire danger statement has been issued in coordination with the Ohio Division of Forestry.
The wildfire danger is high today April 12, 2023, for southeast Ohio including Athens County, with very dry conditions expected this afternoon.
Open burning of any type is considered extremely dangerous at this time. Be very careful of heat and sparks while operating any equipment or smoking in wildland areas.
Ohio state law prohibits burning during the months of March, April, May, October and November from 6 AM to 6 PM.
