The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order extension for all customers on Burr Oak Boulevard from High Street to the US route 33 overpass, Hillside Drive, Crihfield Drive and Starr Drive, until 12:00PM, Thursday, May 23, 2024. This boil order is necessary due to a tie-in for a new water line.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three (3) minutes before being consumed.

The City of Nelsonville Aquatic Center will open for the 2024 summer swim season on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 12:00PM.

The Nelsonville Aquatic Center features a diving well with diving board, tot pool, and water slide. Other amenities include family restrooms and a concession stand.

The Aquatic Center provides a variety of aquatic opportunities and safe water practices in all areas of the facility. The Aquatic Center staff hope you have an exciting and safe experience with us during the 2024 summer swim season while having fun and making memories!

Nelsonville PD changing dispatching services to Athens Co 9-1-1 8AM, Thu, 5/30/24, EMERGENCY CALL 9-1-1, non-emergency call 740-753-1736

The Nelsonville Police Department will be changing dispatching services to the Athens County 9-1-1 Central Communications Center on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 8:00AM.

On May 30th at 8:00AM the 740-753-1736 non-emergency number previously used to call the Nelsonville Police Department, will now ring into a telephone tree with several options for callers to select from. Please remember, if you have an emergency, please call 9-1-1.

  1. If you need a police officer or need to file a police report, you will need to press 1, and you will be connected to the Athens County 9-1-1 Central Communications Center. They may dispatch an officer for any call you may need assistance with this includes suspicious persons, property crimes, loud noise etc. Dispatchers will not be able to assist you in receiving copies of police reports.

  2. If you have questions regarding city operations or events or need to make a code complaint, you will need to press 2 and you will be redirected to the City Manager’s office.

  3. If you have questions regarding the Mayor’s Court or would like to pay your fine, you will need to press 3 and you will be redirected to the Mayor’s Court Clerk.

  4. If you need to request a copy of a police report or have questions regarding police department records or need to leave a message for an individual officer, you will need to press 4 and you will be redirected to the Police Department Clerk.

  5. If you are calling about property that has been confiscated or found, you will need to press 5 and you will be redirected to the Property Room Custodian.

The Nelsonville Police Department/Mayors Court Clerk works Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. For answers to any questions regarding copies of reports or making payments. Outside of those hours you will need to leave a message, and someone will get back to you the following business day.
