Nelsonville water outage and boil order, SR691, Elm Rock Rd, Kimberly Rd, E Canal St “Y” to SR691, until further notice

The Nelsonville Water Department is currently replacing a water main broken yesterday on East Canal Street. The water service will be off for the following areas until water service is restored and once water service is restored the following areas will be under a boil order. State Route 691, Elm Rock Road, Kimberly Road and East Canal Street from the “Y” to State Route 691.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask those affected to boil their drinking and cooking water for three minutes before being consumed.

This Boil Order is in effect until further notice, unless notified otherwise.

Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous May 2020, Crimes of the Month

The following incidents has been listed by Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous as the May 2020 Crimes of the Month.

The Athens Police Department is requesting your information pertaining to a series of crimes which occurred in the City. 

1. 
Over the course of the past five months the Athens Police Department has responded to various parts of the city regarding complaints of bicycles being stolen.  Presently, the police department has received 18 separate complaints of these types of theft.  The board has approved up to a $500 reward for information related to this series of incidents.

2.  On March 26, 2020, the Athens Police Department responded to a complaint of a stolen motorcycle, a 2000 black Harley Davidson Road King, at 55 Lincoln Ave.  The owner of the motorcycle advised police it had been parked on the street in front residence overnight.  Upon checking the following morning, the motorcycle was gone.  The board has approved up to a $2000 for information related to the theft.      

3. Over the past month the Athens Police Department has received several reports of thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles. There may be several suspects operating as individuals or as a group who are responsible for the thefts. Other law enforcement agencies throughout Athens County have also received reports of thefts of catalytic converters. The board has approved up to a $1000.00 reward for information related to these thefts. 

The Nelsonville Police Department is requesting your information pertaining to crimes which occurred in the City. 

1.  The Nelsonville Police Department is investigating several thefts where star bricks have been stolen.  It was first noticed on January 6, 2020 on W. Washington St near the Nelsonville Public Library.  Additional bricks were stolen during the early morning hours of January 7, 2020 at the same location.  It was then reported bricks were stolen from Monroe St during the same time frame.  Based on the amount of bricks stolen, it is believed a motor vehicle must be involved to assist in transporting them.  The board has approved up to a $1000 reward for information related to this series of incidents.  

Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous is offering a cash reward for information on the above crime if that information leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible.  *Information on serious misdemeanors will be limited up to a $1000.00 cash reward.  **Any information that leads to the arrest of an individual responsible for graffiti, the board can authorize up to a $500.00 cash reward. Nelsonville Mill St, Poling Ave to Kontner St, Mon, 5/4/2020 and Tue, 5/5/2020, from 7AM to 6PM, use an alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that Mill Street will be closed from Poling Avenue to Kontner Street, Monday, May 4, 2020 and Tuesday, May 5, 2020.  The roadway will be closed each day from 7:00AM until 6:00PM.  The roadway is being closed for an R&R Pipeline gas line repair project, weather permitting.  Please use an alternate route.

Nelsonville Utility Committee virtual meeting Mon, 5/4/2020, 7PM, Facebook, City of Nelsonville, Ohio, @nelsonvillecity

The City of Nelsonville Utility Committee will hold a virtual meeting on Monday, May 4, 2020 at 7:00PM. The meeting is being held to discuss unused water taps in Buchtel and the 2021 trash contract. The public may not attend the meeting in person. The meeting will be streamed on the City of Nelsonville Facebook Page (City of Nelsonville, Ohio, @nelsonvillecity).
