The Nelsonville City Council held a special meeting on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 6:15 PM. The purpose of the meeting was to consider adoption of a resolution replacing the current recreation levy to be placed on the primary ballot, May 3, 2022. The subject matter of this Special Meeting is limited to consideration and adoption of this resolution.

1/19/2022, 10:00 AM – Athens County is under a LEVEL 1 SNOW EMERGENCY. Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.
UPDATE 01/18/2022 1:30PM: Main routes are clear, but county and township roads are still hazardous. Athens County will remain under a level two at this time. Please continue to use caution while traveling and allow extra time to reach your destination.

As temperatures dip into the teens overnight through Tuesday morning 1/18/2022 across the region, patchy black ice will be possible where surfaces refreeze. Parking lots and sidewalks are also likely to have slick spots. Slow down and allow plenty of extra space between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
1/17/2022, 6:05 AM – Athens County is under a LEVEL 3 SNOW EMERGENCY. All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel, or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.

The Nelsonville Water Department has extended the boil order for Grover Street, Edwards Street, Williams Street, John Street and Frederick Street until Monday, January 17, 2022, at 12:00PM. This boil order is due to a leak repair on the mainline.
When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three minutes before being consumed.
