
The City of Nelsonville announces that slip repair work on Riverside Drive has been completed and the roadway is open to normal traffic. The City of Nelsonville appreciates the publics patience during this road closure.

The City of Nelsonville Water Department has canceled the boil order for Edwards Street, Williams Street, John Street, Frank Street, Frederick Street. Grover Street from Frederick Street to Madison Street. Madison Street from Cross Street to the County Line. We would like to thank those affected by this incident for their patience and understanding.

The City of Nelsonville Finance Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 7:00PM at City Hall. The meeting is being held to discuss future City budgets. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for Edwards Street, Williams Street, John Street, Frank Street, Frederick Street. Grover Street from Frederick Street to Madison Street. Madison Street from Cross Street to the County Line.
The Boil Order has been issued due to a repair for a leak on the mainline. When a boil order is in effect, we ask those affected to boil their drinking and cooking water for three minutes before being consumed.
This Boil Order is in effect until further notice, unless notified otherwise.

The following incidents has been listed by Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous as the December 2019 Crimes of the Month.
The Athens Police Department is requesting your information pertaining to crimes which occurred in the City.
1. On October 28, 2019 at 9:40 PM, the Athens Police Department and the Athens Fire Department responded to East Park Dr, near the Athens Wastewater Treatment Facility, for a vehicle fire. When agencies arrived, the vehicle, a Toyota Tacoma P/U, was found fully engulfed in flames and no one around. The fire was extinguished but the vehicle is a total loss. The board has approved up to a $2000 reward for this incident.
2. On November 19, 2019, the Athens Police Department received a complaint of a breaking and entering that occurred at the Sol Restaurant and Bar which is located at 700 E. State St. It was determined at approximately 5:00 AM on this date a male subject forcibly entered the business and stole several alcoholic beverages. The suspect was wearing dark colored jogging style pants and a hooded sweatshirt.
On November 24, 2019, the Athens Police Department received a second complaint of a breaking and entering that occurred at the Sol Restaurant and Bar. It was determined a white male forcibly entered the business at approximately 6:20 AM and he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The board has approved up to a $2000 reward for these two incidents.
3. On November 24, 2019, the Athens Police Department received a complaint of a breaking and entering that occurred at O’Betty’s Red Hot restaurant which is located at 15 W. State St. Between 3:00 AM and 6:30 AM on November 24, individual(s) forcibly entered the business and took an undisclosed amount of money. The board has approved up to a $2000 reward for this incident.
The Nelsonville Police Department is requesting your information pertaining to crimes which occurred in the City.
1. The Nelsonville Police Department is investigating a series of burglaries that have occurred in the Campbell St area. One particular residence, 38 Campbell St., has been burglarized on three separate occasions. The incidents occurred on October 17, November 2, and November 17, 2019. The board has approved up to a $2000 reward for this series of incidents.
Athens County Crime Solvers Anonymous is offering a cash reward for information on the above crime if that information leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible. *Information on serious misdemeanors will be limited up to a $1000.00 cash reward. **Any information that leads to the arrest of an individual responsible for graffiti, the board can authorize up to a $500.00 cash reward. The City of Nelsonville announces that Monday, December 16, 2019 is the last day for leaf pick-up. For pick-up call City Hall and leave a message at 740-753-1314, Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM. The last day to call and be put on the leaf pick-up list is Friday, December 13, 2019.

There will be a Neighborhood Watch meeting on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at 6:00pm at Nelsonville City Hall, 211 Lake Hope Drive, Nelsonville to discuss crime prevention in the City.

The Nelsonville City Council announces they will be holding their December Regular Council Meetings on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 7:00PM and Monday, December 16, 2019 at 7:00PM. There will be no meeting on Monday, December 23, 2019. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
The changes are being made due to the Holiday Season.

The City of Nelsonville announces that Woodlane Drive will be CLOSED to traffic from Monday, December 9, 2019 until Sunday, February 9, 2020. The roadway is being closed for a slip repair.
