Nelsonville street restriping, Mon 4/20/2020, Public SQ, Tue 4/21/2020, Rocky Boot Way, Pine Grove Dr, avoid these areas

The City of Nelsonville announces that a street restriping project will take place during the week of April 20, 2020.

  • On Monday April 20, 2020, the Public Square will be blocked, and traffic restricted for restriping of the area. The stripping will take place throughout the day however pedestrians will still have access to all businesses on and around the Public Square.
  • On Tuesday April 21, 2020, Rocky Boot Way and Pine Grove Drive will have street restriping throughout the day. Traffic will be diverted and at times temporarily stopped in those areas.

Please avoid these areas.

Nelsonville Pleasantview Ave closed, Mon, 4/20/2020 to Fri, 4/24/2020, 7AM to 6PM, follow detour use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that Pleasantview Avenue will be closed from Fort Street to Scott Street, Monday, April 20, 2020 and Friday, April 24, 2020.  The roadway will be closed each day from 7:00AM until 6:00PM. Traffic will be detoured onto Scott Street. Flaggers will be at each end of Scott Street and detour the traffic around Pleasantview Avenue on Scott Street during work hours. Pleasantview Avenue will be open to traffic during non-work hours.

The roadway is being closed for an R&R Pipeline gas line repair project, weather permitting.  Please use an alternate route.

This is the Monday, April 13, 2020 Nelsonville, Ohio City Council meeting. This was the 1st virtual council meeting ever held by Nelsonville City Council. Nelsonville Lake Hope Dr/ SR278 bridge over Hocking River restricted to one lane until mid-July 2020, use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that the bridge on Lake Hope Drive/ State Route 278 over the Hocking River has been restricted to a single traffic lane. A single 11-foot lane will be maintained with traffic lights on both ends of the bridge. This is an ODOT project that consists of overlaying the bridge surface with a latex modified concrete using scarification. ODOT estimates the project will be completed by mid-July 2020.

Please remember that even temporary traffic lights are to be treated the same as all other traffic control devices. Please use an alternate route when possible and be patient when travelling though the designated work zone.

Athens Co Wind Advisory Monday, April 13, 2020 from 6AM until 8PM, SW winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Athens County Monday, April 13, 2020 from 6AM until 8PM.

  • WHAT – Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • WHERE – Portions of southeast Ohio, southwest Virginia, northeast Kentucky and central, northeast, northern, southeast, southern and western West Virginia.
  • WHEN – Monday, April 13, 2020 from 6AM until 8PM.
  • IMPACTS – Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

  • WHAT – Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 58 mph possible.
  • WHERE – Portions of southeast Ohio, southwest Virginia, northeast Kentucky and central, northeast, northern, southeast, southern and western West Virginia.
  • WHEN – Monday, April 13, 2020 from 6:00AM until 8:00PM.
  • IMPACTS – Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS – Thunderstorms may also occur during the watch period, with brief enhanced wind gusts.
