Athens Co WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY in effect for Mon, 03/02/2026, from 4AM until 12PM, snow and sleet accumulations up to one to two inches and ice accumulations

The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Athens County in effect Monday, March 2, 2026, from 4:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

WHAT…Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to one to two inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze to a few hundredths of an inch.

WHERE…Portions of the middle Ohio Valley and central West Virginia, including Athens County.

WHEN… Monday, March 2, 2026, from 4:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan for slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of falling and injury.

Nelsonville City Council Special Meeting Mon, 03/02/2026, 7:10PM, at city hall, the public are invited and encouraged to attend

The Nelsonville City Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 7:10 PM, at City Hall. The meeting has been called to discuss and take possible action on the following items,

  • Amending non-union employee compensation.
  • Authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement with an outside structural engineer.
  • Budget amendment providing for fencing improvements at Polley Field.
  • Possible executive session, pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22(G), to consider matters involving personnel and legal matters.
