The Nelsonville City Council will hold a regular Council meeting on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 7:00PM in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Citizens comments and business and organizational comments may be made in person or Emailed to councilclerk@cityofnelsonville.com by 1PM, Monday, July 8, 2024. The meeting may be streamed on the City of Nelsonville YouTube channel at https://tinyurl.com/bhv6bp4u. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Nelsonville Burr Oak Blvd CLOSED, E Canal St and Hillside DR, 8AM, Mon, 7/8/24, until 5PM, Fri, 7/12/24, avoid area, use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that Burr Oak Boulevard between East Canal Street and Hillside Drive will be closed to traffic on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 8:00AM until Friday, July 12, 2024, at 5:00PM. The roadway is being closed to prepare and pave the trench from the water line replacement project. This will not get a full paving of the roadway; a total paving of the roadway will be done as part of a paving project in the spring of 2025 along with Canal Street. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Athens County from 12 Noon until 8:00PM, Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

WHAT…Heat index values around 100 expected.

WHERE…Portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, and central, northern, southern, and western West Virginia.

WHEN…From 12 Noon until 8:00PM, Wednesday July 3, 2024.

IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9-1-1.
