The City of Nelsonville Judiciary Committee will hold a meeting on Monday July 10, 2023, at 6:00PM at City Hall. The meeting is being held to discuss council rules of conduct, the council vacancy process, the city manager hiring process, the city comprehensive plan, and the city charter.

Nelsonville E Canal St and Monroe St intersection closed, 7AM, Mon, 7/10/23, to 5PM, Fri, 7/14/23, avoid area use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that the intersection of East Canal Street and Monroe Street will be closed to traffic 7:00 AM, Monday, July 10, 2023, through 5:00PM, Friday, July 14, 2023. Road closed signs will be placed at the Rocky Boots Way traffic light and West of McDonalds on Canal Street. Additionally, there will be a detour for through traffic with signs taking traffic on State Route 691 to Hocking Parkway to keep tractor trailers and other larger trucks off the residential streets. The roadway is being closed so that crews can replace a 6 inch water line. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

The Nelsonville City Council will hold a regular Council meeting on Monday, July 10, 2023, at 7:00PM in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Nelsonville Aquatic Center swim lessons weeks of 7/24 and 7/31, children ages 4-12, $45 per child. Register at aquaticcenter@cityofnelsonville.com or 740-753-7003

The Nelsonville Aquatic Center will be offering swimming lessons the weeks of July 24 and July 31 for children ages 4 – 12 and will cost $45 per child.

Swimming lessons will be,

Monday, July 24 through Thursday, July 27 – Mornings 10:45-11:45 am and Evenings 6:30-7:30 pm.

Monday, July 31 through Thursday, August 3 – Mornings 10:45-11:45 am and Evenings 6:30-7:30 pm.

Spots will be offered on a first come first serve basis.

Athens Co Severe Thunderstorm Watch until midnight Sun, 7/2/23, watch for rapidly changing weather conditions!

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Athens County until midnight Sunday, July 2, 2023. Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for Severe Thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe Thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce Tornadoes.
