Nelsonville Utilities and Auditor’s Office closed Thu, 2/29/24, 9:30AM to 1PM for new wastewater treatment plant ribbon cutting ceremony, thank you for your understanding

The City of Nelsonville Utilities Office and Auditor’s Office will be closed Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 9:30AM until 1:00PM so that employees can attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new wastewater treatment plant. Payments can and should be left in the payment box at City Hall and will be processed as they are received.

Athens Co Flood Watch Wed, 2/28/24, from 3AM until 7PM, Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Athens County in effect Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 3:00 AM until 7:00 PM.

WHAT – Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

WHERE – Portions of southeast Ohio, including the following counties, Athens, Gallia, Jackson OH, Lawrence OH, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton and Washington and West Virginia, including the following counties, Barbour, Braxton, Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Jackson WV, Lewis, Mason, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Taylor, Tyler, Upshur, Wirt and Wood.

WHEN – Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 3:00 AM until 7:00 PM.

IMPACTS – Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

Nelsonville boil order for Madison St from W Washington St to Cross St until 12PM, Thu, 2/29/24, boil cooking and drinking water for 3 minutes before consuming

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for all customers on Madison Street from West Washington Street to Cross Street until 12:00PM, Thursday, February 29, 2024. The boil order is due to crews tying into a new water line.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three (3) minutes before being consumed.

Nelsonville Madison St and W Franklin St intersection closed 8:30AM, Mon, 2/26/24, to 5:30PM, Tue, 2/27/24, avoid area, use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that the intersection of Madison Street and West Franklin Street will be closed to traffic at 8:30AM, Monday, February 26, 2024, until 5:30PM, Tuesday, February 27, 2024. The closure is to perform water main tie overs for a new water main. There will be detour signs posted, and the detour will consist of West Washington, Adams, and Cross streets. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Athens County from 7:00PM, Friday, February 16, 2024, until 4:00AM, Saturday, February 17, 2024.

WHAT – Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts possible.

WHERE – Portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, and central, northern, southern and western West Virginia.

WHEN – From 7:00PM, Friday, February 16, 2024, until 4:00AM, Saturday, February 17, 2024.

IMPACTS – Plan for slippery road conditions.
