Hocking College donates ceramic star brick emblems for the west and east ends of the city, thank you Stuart Brooks, Betty Young, and Hocking College

The City of Nelsonville would like to thank Stuart Brooks, Betty Young, and Hocking College for donating these ceramic star brick emblems for the west and east ends of the city. The ceramic star brick emblems were installed today at the west end roundabout and east end Y. This is a great example of the City of Nelsonville and Hocking College working together to beautify the city.

Nelsonville Water Park Back to School Bash, Sun, 8/17/2025, 12PM to 3PM, swimming, music, games, and family fun before returning to school

The Nelsonville Water Park will be sponsoring a “Back to School Bash” on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 12:00PM until 3:00PM. DJ Rockin’ Reggie will be performing music for the event. The public is invited to come out and enjoy an afternoon of swimming, music, games, and family fun before returning to school. Standard water park admission rates and passes apply to this event.

The City of Nelsonville is looking for community input on the City’s upcoming 2025 Trick-or-Treat. Nelsonville residents can take an anonymous online survey to give their input on this issue. Nelsonville residents can go to https://forms.gle/YtbQz3VTUmPaFoBR9, to complete the survey. A scannable QR code has also been provided so that the survey can be accessed on your cellphone. The survey can also be accessed at the City’s website http://www.cityofnelsonville.com.

The City of Nelsonville will use the input received to schedule the 2025 Nelsonville Trick-or-Treat. The online survey will be available until 12 noon, Monday, September 1, 2025.

The Parade of The Hills Festival street closures and NO PARKING will begin tomorrow Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM, please use an alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that The Parade of The Hills Festival street closures and NO PARKING will begin tomorrow Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM and remain closed through Sunday, August 17, 2025. The full street closures with NO limited access are due to pedestrian safety concerns from prior years.

The following streets will be closed to all traffic:

  • West Washington Street from Post Office to Fort Street
  • West Columbus Street from Library to 45 East Columbus Street
  • Rocky Boot Way from Public Square to alley by the Elks
  • Public Square
  • Fort Street right hand lane from Short Street to West Washington Street, (Closed only Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 9:00AM to 8:00PM).

Please expect vendor, carnival rides and pedestrian traffic throughout the area. Please use caution in the area during the festival and please consider using an alternate route.

Nelsonville Canal St construction project paused for the Prade of The Hills festival and fully open to vehicle travel for the duration of the festival

The City of Nelsonville announces that the Canal Street construction project has been paused for the Prade of The Hills festival. Canal Street has been cleared of all barricades and is fully open to vehicle travel for the duration of the festival.

We understand the inconvenience this project has caused, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this major construction project.

Don’t Forget, Nelsonville Auditor’s Office hosting FREE city-wide community shred day, this Sat, 8/9/2025, 9AM until 12PM at City Hall

Don’t forget, the City of Nelsonville Auditor’s Office is hosting a FREE city-wide community shred day, this Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 9:00AM until 12:00PM at the City Hall parking lot.

Any Nelsonville resident, organization and business with proof of an address within the Nelsonville city limits, are welcome to bring a limit of 5 banker boxes or 5 equivalent size boxes of paper documents. The city will have a limited supply of banker boxes available for use on a first come first serve basis. Papers with paperclips and staples are acceptable, but binder clips must be removed. All drop offs should be in organized boxes; loose or bagged paper will not be accepted.
