Nelsonville Hocking PKWY closed to traffic with Loop RD detour on all 2025 Hocking College home football game days, please avoid this area and use an alternative route on game days

The City of Nelsonville announces that Hocking Parkway will be closed to traffic between both ends of Loop Road due to 2025 Hocking College home football games. Loop Road will be used as a detour route for these closures. The road closures will be from 11:00AM until 6:00PM each gameday. The game days are listed below. Please avoid this area and use an alternative route on these dates.

  • Saturday, August 30, 1 PM.
  • Saturday, September 20, 1 PM.
  • Saturday, October 4, 1 PM.
  • Saturday, October 18, 1 PM.
  • Saturday, October 25, 1 PM.
  • Saturday, November 8, 12 PM

Nelsonville city water park 2025 swim season ending this weekend, Sat, 8/23 and Su, 8/24, final swimming days, open each day 12PM until 6PM

The 2025 swim season is coming to an end at the Nelsonville city water park. Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24, 2025, will be the final swimming days, with the pool being open each day from 12:00PM until 6:00PM. The water park will not be open for the labor day weekend,

There will be no parking allowed on the Public Square starting at 2:30PM, Friday, August 22, 2025. Unauthorized cars will be towed away at the owner’s expense. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

Nelsonville Canal St construction resumes Wed, 8/20/2025 until Tue, 9/2/2025, with various single lane closures as needed, road closures will continue after Labor Day

The City of Nelsonville announces that the Canal Street construction project will start again on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Between Wednesday, August 20, 2025, and Tuesday, September 2, 2025, contractors will be working on installing wheelchair ramps and cleaning up completed road sections. During this time various single lane closures will be necessary as work progresses. Stay alert for lane closures on Canal Street. Complete road closures will continue after the Labor Day Holiday. Complete closure information will be released as it becomes available.

We understand the inconvenience this project has caused, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this major construction project.

Parade of The Hills Grand Parade street closures and NO PARKING Sat, 8/16/2024, 3PM Poplar St, Jefferson St, Washington St, Madison St, Columbus St, 3rd St, Walnut St, DeSteiguer St, Monroe St

The City of Nelsonville announces that The Parade of The Hills Festival Grand Parade street closures and NO PARKING will begin on Saturday, August 16, 2024, at 3:00 PM and remain closed through the duration of the Grand Parade. The full street closures with NO limited access are due to pedestrian safety concerns from prior years.

The following streets will be closed to all traffic:

  • Poplar Street from Burr Oak Boulevard to Jefferson Street
  • Jefferson Street from Poplar Street to Washington Street
  • Washington Street from Jefferson Street to Madison Street
  • Madison Street from Washinton Street to Columbus Street
  • Columbus Street from Madison Street to the Public Square
  • 3rd Street, Walnut Street, DeSteiguer Street, and Monroe Street

Please expect parade units and pedestrian traffic throughout the area. Please use caution in the area during the grand parade and please consider using an alternate route.
