The Nelsonville Police Department is accepting applications for a part-time Police Clerk, www.cityofnelsonville.com

The Nelsonville Police Department is accepting applications for a part-time Police Clerk. Eligible candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 21 years of age. The candidates must pass an FBI/BCI background check. The person must be trustworthy and dependable and be able to keep information confidential. Must have good interpersonal communication skills, the ability to multitask, basic computer knowledge and present themselves in a positive and professional manner.
The duties include general clerical work, filing reports, copying reports, answering telephones, taking messages, collecting fines, issuing receipts, and dealing with the public.
Candidates can get an application in person at the Nelsonville Police Department located at 211 Lake Hope Drive, Nelsonville, Ohio or online at the City of Nelsonville website. Applications can be dropped off at the Police Department Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Deadline to turn in applications is September 4, 2020 at 4:00pm.
All internal applicants must notify the Nelsonville Chief of Police in writing their interest in the position.
Nelsonville trash and recycling pickup starting at 5AM daily 9/1/2020, have trash and recyclables curbside prior to 5AM

The City of Nelsonville announces that beginning September 1, 2020 Rumpke waste & recycling services will be starting trash and recycling pickup starting at 5:00 AM each day. To avoid missing your regular trash or recycling pickup, please make sure your trash and recyclables are on the curb prior to 5:00 AM on your pickup day.
To report an issue, residents can call the City at 740-753-1314 Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You may leave a voice mail after regular business hours. You can also contact Rumpke waste & recycling services at 800-828-8171.
Nelsonville Desteiguer St permanently one-way street Northern direction Back St to Jackson St, Tue, 9/1/20, use caution

The City of Nelsonville announces that Desteiguer Street will be permanently changing to a one-way street from Back Street to Jackson Street on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Traffic travel on Desteiguer Street will be changed to a Northern direction from Back Street to Jackson Street.
Please remember that this traffic pattern change is starting Tuesday, September 1, 2020, and use caution while driving in the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Western Athens County including Nelsonville until 500 PM, Tuesday, 8/25/2020. At 427 PM, a severe thunderstorm was located near Nelsonville, moving southeast at 25 mph.
- HAZARD – 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
- SOURCE – Radar indicated.
- IMPACT – Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include – Athens, Nelsonville, Chauncey, Buchtel, Amesville, Stroud Run State Park and The Plains.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for Chestnut Street from Burr Oak Boulevard to East Canal Street at the East “Y” until further notice.
The Boil Order has been issued due to a repair for a leak on the mainline. When a boil order is in effect, we ask those affected to boil their drinking and cooking water for three minutes before being consumed.
This Boil Order is in effect until further notice, unless notified otherwise.
