City of Nelsonville Auditor’s Office reminds everyone that income tax payments are due Mon, 4/15/24, questions 740-753-2233 or email auditor@cityofnelsonville.com

The City of Nelsonville Auditor’s Office would like to remind everyone that income tax payments are due on Monday, April 15, 2024.

  • All residents pay a 1.75% income tax on all taxable income regardless of where it is earned. All residents must file an income tax return with the city unless they have a specific exemption.
  • Anyone working inside city limits or earning money inside city limits also owe 1.75% income tax on earnings within the city limits. If your employer did not withhold enough to satisfy the amount owed, you must file and pay the difference.
  • All businesses must file non-profit tax returns with the city and owe income tax on profits made or based in the city.
  • There are many ways to file returns. Paper returns can be found at Ritaohio.com or in the office. We can send returns if you call in and request one at 740-753-2233. Your tax accountant will be able to handle any city return requirements as well.
  • There are online filing options we highly encourage at Ritaohio.com. Taxpayers can set up an account or can use the “FastFile” option where a return can be filed in minutes.
  • People can call 740-753-2233 or email auditor@cityofnelsonville.com with any questions they may have, and we would be happy to help! Income Tax deadline day is Monday, April 15, 2024.
  • More questions can be answered at https://tinyurl.com/2wm2zmaw.
  • If someone owes their estimated taxes for the year 2024 or any year prior, they should expect to receive quarterly notices about the balance owed in the mail.
