The City of Nelsonville announces that the intersection of Madison Street and West Franklin Street will be closed to traffic at 8:30AM, Monday, February 26, 2024, until 5:30PM, Tuesday, February 27, 2024. The closure is to perform water main tie overs for a new water main. There will be detour signs posted, and the detour will consist of West Washington, Adams, and Cross streets. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for all customers on Adams Street from West Washington Street to Jingleburg Alley until 12:00PM, Friday, February 23, 2024. The boil order is due to crews tying into a new water line.
When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three (3) minutes before being consumed.

Buchtel water outage Fri, 2/16/24 at 9AM, lasting 4HRS to connect new water lines, followed by boil order for Buchtel until 7AM, Mon, 2/19/24, boil water for 3MIN before consuming
The Nelsonville Water Department will be turning off water service to the Village of Buchtel on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 9:00AM, to allow crews to perform a connection of the new water main at 12th Street and to switch the Nelsonville/ York School Complex over to the new water line. The work should take approximately four (4) hours to complete. When water service is restored, there will be a boil order for the Village of Buchtel until 7:00AM, Monday, February 19, 2024.

Nelsonville City Council accepting letters of interest for open City Council position until 2/21/24
The City of Nelsonville is seeking people interested in filling one (1) open position for City Council member as soon as possible. To be considered for the City Council, the applicants must be a qualified elector who has been continuously a resident and a qualified elector of the City of one (1) year next prior to their election, and who is not the occupant of an incompatible office, shall be eligible to serve as a member of City Council. Each member of Council shall continue to be a resident and qualified elector of the City throughout their term of office, failing which Council shall remove them from office.
To apply for the position of City Council member please submit letters of interest to councilclerk@cityofnelsonville.com by February 21,2024. The letter of interest should include the applicant’s full name, home address, telephone number and reason for interest. All letters will be reviewed and those interested will be contacted to set up an interview with the Council.

- Do not leave any valuables in the car, especially in plain view.
- NEVER leave your vehicle running to cool down or warm up.
- Take a photo of your registration and remove personal documents from the car.
- It takes only seconds for a person to hop in a running car and drive off.
