The Nelsonville City Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 7:00 PM, at City Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the Nelsonville Street Levy and meet in Executive Session under Ohio Revised Code 121.22 (G) to discuss City Personnel.

Nelsonville Madison St CLOSED, W Washington St north to city limits, starting Mon, 7/29/24, 7:30AM to 4:30PM, weekly Mon to Fri, avoid area, use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that AEP Ohio is the process of an electrical service pole replacement project on Madison Street from West Washington Street north to the city limits. Work began on Monday, July 15, 2024, and will last until all work is completed. The work will result in single lane closures and total road closures.

Madison Street will be closed to traffic starting on Monday, July 29, 2024. Work will take place Monday through Friday from 7:30AM until 4:30PM daily. Work will start at the north end of Madison Street at the city limits, and electrical service poles we be replaced as crews move south.  Please avoid this area and use an alternate route. Flaggers will be located at both ends of the work area to assist with traffic.  

Updates on additional closures or delays will be released as information becomes available.

Nelsonville boil order, Poplar St – Burr Oak Blvd to Hopkins St, until 12PM, Thu, 7/25/24, boil drinking water for 3 minutes before consuming

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for all customers on Poplar Street from Burr Oak Boulevard to Hopkins Street, until 12:00PM, Thursday, July 25, 2024. This boil order is necessary due to a water line replacement project.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three (3) minutes before being consumed.

Nelsonville no on street parking E Franklin St – Fort St to Washington St, Pleasantview Ave – Fort St to US33 overpass, all Kontner St, Thu, 7/25, Fri, 7/26/24, 8AM to 5PM each day, avoid area, use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that East Franklin Street, from Fort Street to Washington Street, Pleasantview Avenue from Fort Street to US 33 overpass, and all Kontner Street will have no on street parking Thursday, July 25, and Friday, July 26, 2024, from 8:00AM until 5:00PM each day. The parking ban is in effect so that crews can perform road milling in preparation for asphalt paving. Expect delays, please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

Nelsonville Poplar St boil order, Hopkins St to Rhine St, until 8AM, Mon, 7/22/24, boil drinking water for 3 minutes before consuming

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for all customers on Poplar Street from Hopkins Street to Rhine Street, until 8:00AM, Monday, July 22, 2024. This boil order is necessary due to a water line leak repair.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three (3) minutes before being consumed.

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for all customers on Myers Street, Jackson Street from Watkins to De Steiguer Street and Watkins Street from Jackson Street to Polley Field, until 12:00PM, Saturday, July 20, 2024. This boil order is necessary due to a water line repair.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three (3) minutes before being consumed.

Athens Co Heat Advisory Mon, 7/15/24, from 2PM, until 8PM, drink fluids, stay in air-conditioning, stay out of sun, check on relatives and neighbors

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Athens County in effect Monday, July 15, 2024, from 2:00 PM, until 8:00 PM.

WHAT…Heat index values up to 100 expected.

WHERE…Portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, and central, northern, and southern West Virginia.

WHEN… Monday, July 15, 2024, from 2:00 PM, until 8:00 PM.

IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
