The City of Nelsonville announces that the city’s water park will be closed Saturday, May 24, 2025, due to forecasted cold weather.

SAVE THE DATE. The Nelsonville Water Park is sponsoring a Dog Swim to benefit the Nelsonville Dog Park. Monday, September 8, 2025, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM. $5.00 per dog to enter; larger donations are welcome: all proceeds to aid in maintaining the Nelsonville Dog Park. Bring your dogs to romp and play and swim. Dogs, Fun and water – you can’t have a better time than that! More information will be released as the date draws near.

The City of Nelsonville Aquatic Center will open for the 2025 summer season on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 12:00PM, weather permitting, because of the predicted cool temperatures for the weekend.
The Nelsonville Aquatic Center features a diving well with diving board, tot pool, and water slide. Other amenities include family restrooms and a concession stand.
The Aquatic Center provides a variety of aquatic opportunities and safe water practices in all areas of the facility. The Aquatic Center staff hope you have an exciting and safe experience with us during the 2025 summer swim season while having fun and making memories!

The City of Nelsonville is hosting a Trap Neuter Release Clinic for feral cats sponsored by the Athens County Humane Society, Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The program helps keep the feral cat population under control. One cat can give birth to up to 280 kittens in their lifetime. This work prevents thousands of unhomed kittens from suffering.
Athens County Humane Society volunteers will be setting live traps to catch as many of the local feral cat population as possible the evening of Tuesday, May 27, 2025. The City asks residents to ensure that their cats are kept inside the evening of May 27th to avoid the risk of them being captured in the live traps. Thank you for your cooperation with this important program.
