The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Athens County until 12 Midnight, Sunday, 7/23/17.
Additional rounds of thunderstorms with very heavy rain may result in flash flooding, especially along small streams and in poor drainage areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northern Athens County until 5:15 PM.
At 424 PM, a severe thunderstorm was located over Shawnee, moving east at 35 mph.
Locations impacted include Nelsonville, Glouster, Buchtel, Jacksonville, Murray City, Trimble, Amesville and Burr Oak State Park.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

The Nelsonville Street Department announces that a small section of East Canal Street between Carter Lumber and Burger King will be closed for a curb cutting for approximately four hours beginning at 8:30 AM Monday, July 24, 2017. Please use caution in the area or an alternate route.

The Nelsonville City Council meeting scheduled for Monday, July 24, 2017 at 7:00 pm has been moved to Monday July 31, 2017 in Council Chambers at City Hall. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The Nelsonville Aquatic Center will celebrate Christmas in July on Saturday, July 29, 2017, courtesy of the Knights of Pythias Lodge #169. The first 130 children will be admitted into the pool for free. Rockin’ Reggie and his crew will be at the pool from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. There will be games, prizes and fun!
