The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Athens County until 7:15 PM, Wednesday, 3/23/2022. At 6:28 PM, a severe thunderstorm was located over Wellston, moving northeast at 70 mph.

  HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Nelsonville Youth Baseball and Softball league registration, Sat, 3/26/22, RESCHEDULED to Sat, 4/2/22, 2PM to 4PM Nelsonville City Park shelter house

The City of Nelsonville registration for the 2022 Nelsonville Recreation Youth Baseball and Softball league scheduled for Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM is being rescheduled due to predicted bad weather. The registration is rescheduled for Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. Registration will be held at the Nelsonville City Park shelter house, located to the left as you enter the park. The 2022 Nelsonville Recreation Youth Baseball and Softball league registration form is available online at https://tinyurl.com/2p86at3z.

Nelsonville seeking residents for Board of Zoning Appeal, letters of interest to administration@cityofnelsonville.com

The City of Nelsonville is seeking applications for the City’s Board of Zoning Appeals. To be considered for the Board, the applicant must be an elector of the City of Nelsonville. The Board of Zoning Appeals shall consist of five (5) members serving overlapping terms of five (5) years each.

The Board of Zoning Appeals shall hear and determine applications for variances from the provisions of any zoning ordinances and resolutions, in harmony with the intent and purposes of any zoning ordinances and resolutions and in accordance with procedures provided by the Nelsonville City Charter. The Board of Zoning Appeals shall also hear and determine appeals from any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the administrative department or administrative officer who is in charge of the enforcement and application of any zoning ordinances and resolutions. The Board shall have such other powers and perform such other duties and functions as provided by ordinance or resolution.

The City of Nelsonville is seeking applications for the City’s Board of Parks and Recreation. To be considered for the Board, the applicant must be an elector of the City of Nelsonville. The Board of Parks and Recreation shall consist of five (5) members serving overlapping terms of five (5) years each.

It shall be the function and duty of this Board of Parks and Recreation to recommend a program to Council for the operation of public parks, recreation facilities, and the acquisition, improvement, construction and maintenance of the parks, parkways, bikeways, and any other services related thereto. The Board’s functions and duties shall be advisory only.
