Nelsonville Public Square and surrounding areas closed Sat, 9/30/23, 9AM until 11PM, expect vendor and pedestrian traffic throughout the area, use caution, consider an alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that the Public Square area will be closed on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 9:00 AM in preparation for the Southeastern Ohio Rainbow Alliance, Nelsonville Pride Day. The Public Square will remain closed until Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 11:00 PM.

Additionally, Stuart’s Opera House will be closing East Washington Street from Fort Street to 40 E Washington Street on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 11:00 PM, for their Mozart and Beethoven with the Columbus Symphony event.

These full street closures with NO limited access are due to pedestrian safety concerns for the events. The following streets will be closed to all traffic:

  • West Washington Street from Post Office to 40 East Washington Street
  • West Columbus Street from Library to Rocky Boot Way
  • Public Square

Please expect vendor and pedestrian traffic throughout the area. Please take caution in the area during the events and consider using an alternate route.

Nelsonville boil order for Bessemer Rd from intersection of Woodlane Dr and Carbon Hill Rd to Buchtel, SR78 from intersection Sylvania Ave and SR78 to Buchtel and all the Village of Buchtel, extended until 12PM, Sat, 9/23/23, unless notified otherwise

The Nelsonville Water Department has extended a boil order for water customers on Bessemer Road from the intersection of Woodlane Drive and Carbon Hill Road to Buchtel, State Route 78 from the intersection of Sylvania Avenue and State Route 78 to Buchtel and all the Village of Buchtel. The Nelsonville York City School Complex IS NOT INCLUDED in this boil order. The boil order will now be in effect until 12:00PM, Saturday, September 23, 2023, unless notified otherwise. This boil order is due to a second water line break and repair.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for (3) three minutes before being consumed.
