Nelsonville awarded $21,349 ODNR NatureWorks grant for construction of Nelsonville Dog Park shelter house

The City of Nelsonville is pleased to announce that the Nelsonville Dog Park has been awarded an Ohio Department of Natural Resources, NatureWorks grant. The NatureWorks grant award is for $21,349.00, for the construction of a Nelsonville Dog Park shelter house. The city is developing a dog park at the site of the old wastewater treatment plant off East Canal Street. Nelsonville officials said, “It is stuff like this that makes Nelsonville a great place to live and work.”

The City of Nelsonville is also a finalist for the 2023 PetSafe Unleashed Dog Park Contest. The PetSafe contest is a national contest where a community can win a dream dog park, valued up to $50,000 – a place where pets and people can come together to spread the joy and share the love with wagging tails, smiling faces and new friends every day!

The finalist with the highest number of votes will be awarded this year’s PetSafe Unleashed Dog Park, each voter can vote once per day, every day, so make sure that you and all your friends vote daily for a Nelsonville Dog Park at petsafeunleashed.petsafe.com/locations/nelsonville-oh/ until November 30th.

National Weather Service Special Weather Statement, Enhanced Fire Danger Today, Tue, 11/14/2023, very low humidities and dry conditions across the region elevate fire danger.

Very low humidities this afternoon, along with ongoing dry conditions will lead to an elevated fire danger risk today, Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

Humidity values will drop as low as 15 to 20 percent in the southern coalfields of West Virginia and Virginia and as low as 20 to 30 percent in other parts of the Central Appalachians. Winds will be from the north to northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.

Nelsonville boil order for Mound St, until 12PM, Fri, 11/10/23, boil cooking and drinking water for 3 minutes

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for water customers on Mound Street in Nelsonville. The boil order will be in effect until 12:00PM, Friday, November 10, 2023, unless notified otherwise. This boil order is due to a water line break and repair.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three (3) minutes before being consumed.
