The Nelsonville City Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 8:00 PM, at City Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to take action on the following items,

  1. Second reading of the labor contract with the Fire Department union
  2. Second reading of the labor contract with the City service workers union
  3. Resolution to extend the trash contract with Athens-Hocking Recycling Centers, Inc.

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for all customers on State Route 78 from 1st Street to Bank Street, 1st Street, 2nd Street, 3rd Street, 4th Street, Wagner Street, Stephenson Street, Fork Street, Wilson Avenue, Emerson Street, South Akron Avenue from State Route 78 to Stephenson Street in Buchtel and Nelsonville Water customers only on Happy Hollow Road until 3:00PM, Friday, March 22, 2024. The boil order is due to a water main break.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three (3) minutes before being consumed.

The boil order is due to crews tying into a new water line.

Nelsonville water outage, Oak St, Fort St, Clinton St, College St, Elizabeth St, Lancaster St, Kontner St, Mill St and Poling Ave, Tue, 3/19/24, 9AM to 4PM

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, the Nelsonville Water Department will be turning off water service to customers on Oak Street, Fort Street, Clinton Street, College Street, Elizabeth Street, Lancaster Street, Kontner Street, Mill Street and Poling Avenue, from 9:00AM until 4:00PM. This water outage is part of the ongoing water project, and this work will tie over Clinton Street and College Street to the new water main.

The City of Nelsonville announces that the intersection of Clinton Street and College Street will be closed to traffic at 9:00AM, Monday, March 18, 2024, until 4:00PM, Tuesday, March 19, 2024. The closure is to perform water main tie overs for a new water main. There will be detour signs posted, drivers should plan on using Oak Street during the closure. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.
