The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WATCH for Athens County from 7:00AM, Sunday, January 5, 2025, through 7:00PM Monday, January 6, 2025.

WHAT – Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 9 inches and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch possible.

WHERE – Portions of southeast Ohio which includes Athens County, and central and northern West Virginia.

WHEN – From 7:00AM, Sunday, January 5, 2025, through 7:00PM Monday, January 6, 2025.

IMPACTS – Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

WHAT – South winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 45 mph expected.

WHERE – Portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, southwest Virginia, and central, northeast, northern, southeast, southern, and western West Virginia, including Athens County.

WHEN – Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 10:00AM to 10:00PM.

IMPACTS – Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Nelsonville Utilities Office closed today, Thu, 12/19/24, 11:30AM until 1PM for Nelsonville employee Christmas lunch, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

The City of Nelsonville Utilities Office will be closed today Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 11:30AM until 1:00PM due to the Nelsonville employee Christmas luncheon. We encourage residents to leave payments in the drop box outside City Hall. The utilities office staff will return all calls and inquiries as quickly as possible.
