The Nelsonville City Council will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at City Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and consider.

  • Second Reading on Ordinance 52-25, Kimberly Road water line.
  • Report from the City Attorney with updates on Ordinance 54-25, repealing Issue 23 that would abolishing Nelsonville’s city charter.
  • Council may go into a brief executive session if needed in compliance with the Ohio Revised Code to discuss pending litigation before the Ohio Supreme Court that involves the City.

Nelsonville W Washington St closed today, Mon, 8/18/2025, Adams St to Madison St until 5PM, for waterline replacement project, avoid area, use alternate route

The City of Nelsonville announces that West Washington Street will be closed today Monday, August 18, 2025, from Adams Street to Madison Street until 5:00PM.

The street closure is necessary for a waterline replacement project.

Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

Nelsonville Canal St construction resumes Wed, 8/20/2025 until Tue, 9/2/2025, with various single lane closures as needed, road closures will continue after Labor Day

The City of Nelsonville announces that the Canal Street construction project will start again on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Between Wednesday, August 20, 2025, and Tuesday, September 2, 2025, contractors will be working on installing wheelchair ramps and cleaning up completed road sections. During this time various single lane closures will be necessary as work progresses. Stay alert for lane closures on Canal Street. Complete road closures will continue after the Labor Day Holiday. Complete closure information will be released as it becomes available.

We understand the inconvenience this project has caused, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this major construction project.

Parade of The Hills Grand Parade street closures and NO PARKING Sat, 8/16/2024, 3PM Poplar St, Jefferson St, Washington St, Madison St, Columbus St, 3rd St, Walnut St, DeSteiguer St, Monroe St

The City of Nelsonville announces that The Parade of The Hills Festival Grand Parade street closures and NO PARKING will begin on Saturday, August 16, 2024, at 3:00 PM and remain closed through the duration of the Grand Parade. The full street closures with NO limited access are due to pedestrian safety concerns from prior years.

The following streets will be closed to all traffic:

  • Poplar Street from Burr Oak Boulevard to Jefferson Street
  • Jefferson Street from Poplar Street to Washington Street
  • Washington Street from Jefferson Street to Madison Street
  • Madison Street from Washinton Street to Columbus Street
  • Columbus Street from Madison Street to the Public Square
  • 3rd Street, Walnut Street, DeSteiguer Street, and Monroe Street

Please expect parade units and pedestrian traffic throughout the area. Please use caution in the area during the grand parade and please consider using an alternate route.

The City of Nelsonville announces it will be holding a public educational session to discuss Nelsonville City Code Chapter 155: Rental Property. The session will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 6:00PM and will be held at the Nelsonville City Hall in City Council Chambers. The discussion will be facilitated by Nelsonville City Manager, Fred Holmes. Any interested persons are invited and encouraged to attend.

Hocking College donates ceramic star brick emblems for the west and east ends of the city, thank you Stuart Brooks, Betty Young, and Hocking College

The City of Nelsonville would like to thank Stuart Brooks, Betty Young, and Hocking College for donating these ceramic star brick emblems for the west and east ends of the city. The ceramic star brick emblems were installed today at the west end roundabout and east end Y. This is a great example of the City of Nelsonville and Hocking College working together to beautify the city.

Nelsonville Water Park Back to School Bash, Sun, 8/17/2025, 12PM to 3PM, swimming, music, games, and family fun before returning to school

The Nelsonville Water Park will be sponsoring a “Back to School Bash” on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 12:00PM until 3:00PM. DJ Rockin’ Reggie will be performing music for the event. The public is invited to come out and enjoy an afternoon of swimming, music, games, and family fun before returning to school. Standard water park admission rates and passes apply to this event.
