Athens County is under a LEVEL 1 SNOW EMERGENCY. Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.

ATHENS COUNTY LEVEL 2 SNOW EMERGENCY

Athens County is under a LEVEL 2 SNOW EMERGENCY. Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be very icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.

The City of Nelsonville Water Department has canceled the boil order for Mill Street water customers. We would like to thank those affected by this incident for their patience and understanding.

Athens County Winter Weather Advisory for snow in effect from 7PM, Friday, 12/29/17 to 10AM, Saturday, 12/30/17.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5-1-1.

The City of Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for all of Mill Street until further notice. Boil orders are put into place as a result of broken water lines or local flooding. When this happens, the drinking water may have been contaminated which can cause many illnesses.
