The City of Nelsonville has closed the West Washington roundabout due to flood waters from the Hocking River. All traffic for US33 will need to use the State Route 78/691 exit on the East end of Nelsonville. Please use an alternate route.

The Nelsonville City Council will hold a regular Council meeting on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers at City Hall. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Athens County until 3:45 PM, Tuesday, 4/3/2018. At 12:49 PM, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

The City of Nelsonville announces that beginning Monday, April 9, 2018, all Nelsonville water bill payments will need to be paid at the Nelsonville City Auditor’s office at 211 Lake Hope Drive, Nelsonville. The option to pay your water bill online is not affected by this change. Online water bill payment can be accessed at the City’s website, http://www.cityofnelsonville.com.
