The City of Nelsonville Police and Fire Committee will hold a virtual meeting on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 7:00PM. The meeting is being held to discuss personnel and procedures. The public may not attend the meeting in person. The meeting will be streamed on the City of Nelsonville Facebook Page (City of Nelsonville, Ohio, @nelsonvillecity).

Absentee Voting

You may request an Absentee Ballot by…

  • completing an Absentee Ballot Application and mailing it to the Board of Elections
  • calling the Board of Elections and requesting an Absentee Ballot Application to be mailed to you
  • mailing a letter to the Board of Elections with the following information:
    • Your name and home address.
    • The election for which you are requesting a ballot.
    • Your date of birth.

One of the following:

  • Your driver’s license number; or
    • The last four digits of your social security number; or
    • A copy of your current and valid photo identification or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows your name and address.
    • The mailing address to which you want your ballot sent.
    • You must state that you are a qualified elector.
    • Your signature.  (May not be signed by Power of Attorney)

You may return your absentee ballot to the Board of Elections by:

  • mailing it to the Board of Elections for your county
  • hand-delivering by you or a relative to the Board of Elections office

Your absentee ballot must be received by the Board of Elections for your county before 7:30 PM on Election Day to be counted!

Nelsonville Pleasantview Ave closed Fort St to Scott St, Thu, 8/13/2020 through Mon, 8/17/2020, weekdays, 7AM to 5PM

The City of Nelsonville announces that Pleasantview Avenue will be closed from Fort Street to Scott Street, Thursday, August 13, 2020 through Monday, August 17, 2020, weekdays only.  The roadway will be closed each day from 7:00AM until 5:00PM. Traffic will be detoured onto Scott Street. Flaggers will be at each end of Scott Street and detour the traffic around Pleasantview Avenue on Scott Street during work hours. Pleasantview Avenue will be open to traffic during non-work hours.

The roadway is being closed for an R&R Pipeline gas line repair project, weather permitting.  Please use an alternate route.

Nelsonville City Council regular virtual meeting Mon, 8/10/20, 7PM, Facebook, City of Nelsonville, Ohio, @nelsonvillecity

Due to social distancing recommendations on preventing the spread of the COVID-19, Nelsonville City Council will be meeting in regular session Monday, August 10, 2020 at 7PM via a virtual meeting. The public may not attend the meeting in person. The meeting will be live streamed from the City of Nelsonville Facebook Page, (City of Nelsonville, Ohio, @nelsonvillecity). Citizens comments and business and organizational comments may be made to council by Emailing them to councilclerk@cityofnelsonville.com, no later than 12PM Monday, August 10, 2020. The public is invited and encouraged to attend virtually online.

Nelsonville boil order for Saint John Street until further notice, unless notified otherwise

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for Saint John Street until further notice.

The Boil Order has been issued due to a repair for a leak on the mainline. When a boil order is in effect, we ask those affected to boil their drinking and cooking water for three minutes before being consumed.

This Boil Order is in effect until further notice, unless notified otherwise.

Nelsonville Water Department to resume overdue water bill shut offs, Thu, 8/13/2020, for questions call 740-753-2151

The Nelsonville Water Department suspended water shut offs in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic statewide stay at home order. Since that order has been lifted, the Nelsonville Water Department will resume water shut offs for overdue water bills starting Thursday, August 13, 2020. If you have any questions concerning your water service or bill, please call the water department at (740) 753-2151.
