Nelsonville City Council Committee meetings Tue, 9/1/2026, 5:30PM at City Hall, the public are invited and encouraged to attend

The City of Nelsonville announces that the following City Council Committees will be holding meetings on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at City Hall.

5:30 PM – Parks and Recreation Committee
Duration: 60 minutes

  • Hear and discuss a proposal for a Pocket Park Proposal.

6:30 PM – Planning & Development Committee
Duration: 60 minutes

  • Review and discussion of alleyway issues and potential policy/code updates.
  • Review and discussion of tree cutting requirements.
    • Clarify responsible party.
    • Review of height and maintenance requirements.
  • Discussion concerning Petting Zoos and Exotic Animals
    • Review current regulations.
    • Discuss whether code amendments or additional regulations are needed.
  • Discussion concerning a Feral Cat Spay & Neuter Program
    • Discuss funding for trapping, spaying, and neutering feral cats.
    • Historical allocation of approximately $2,500 annually.
    • Discuss potentially allocating up to $5,000, subject to available funds.
    • Possible referral/recommendation to Finance Committee.
  • Discussion concerning festival and transient vendor regulations.
    • Review current festival and transient vendor requirements.
    • Discuss possible updates and clarifications to city policy.
  • Discussion concerning rental property and landlord-tenant code enforcement.
    • Review current policy concerning violations at rental properties.
    • Discuss violations resulting from tenant conduct where notice is currently issued to the property owner.
    • Consider amendments establishing clearer responsibility between property owners and tenants.

7:30 PM – Utilities Committee
Duration: 45 minutes

  • Discussion concerning information technology and artificial intelligence policy.

8:15 PM – Finance Committee
Duration: 60 minutes

  • Discussion concerning refundable water deposits — approximately $150–$175
  • Discussion concerning information technology and artificial intelligence policy Costs
  • Possible discussion concerning pocket park funding
