WHAT…Heat index values from 100 to 106 degrees each afternoon from Tuesday through Friday.
WHERE…Portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, southwest Virginia, and central, northeast, northern, southeast, southern, and western West Virginia.
WHEN…From 11:00AM, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, until 10:00PM, Friday, July 3, 2026.
IMPACTS…Hot afternoon temperatures and high humidity raise the risk for heat illnesses.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Act when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
