The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch continues for Athens County from 2:00 AM until 2:00 PM, Saturday, 8/15/2020.
Slow moving showers and thunderstorms are expected late this evening through early Saturday afternoon. Torrential rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible and may lead to flash flooding due to the slow moving nature of these storms.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
Be alert for quick rises of area creeks and streams, and water overflowing ditches and culverts onto roadways. Low lying areas and poor drainage areas could quickly flood during periods of intense rainfall.
