The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Athens County in effect from 8:00PM, Saturday 9/8/18 until 8:00PM, Monday 9/10/18.
- Rain, heavy at times, moving into the area tonight, and then persisting into Monday. Thunderstorms are also possible.
- Runoff from the heavy rain is likely to flood urban and other poor drainage areas. Streams may come out of their banks, resulting in water over roads and into buildings. In time, there will also be rises on mainstem rivers.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
