Freezing Rain Advisory

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY FOR ATHENS COUNTY, WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM THIS MORNING, THURSDAY 1/29.

HAZARD TYPES – PATCHES OF FREEZING RAIN OR DRIZZLE.

ICE ACCUMULATIONS – A THIN FILM OF ICE.

TIMING – 8 AM UNTIL 11 AM

IMPACTS – COLD GROUND TEMPERATURES WILL ALLOW RAIN TO FREEZE ON WALKING AND ROAD SURFACES, MAKING ROADS AND WALKING SURFACES ICY AND TREACHEROUS.

TEMPERATURES – IN THE LOWER 30S.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS. SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
