The City of Nelsonville announces that Pine Grove Drive will be closed to traffic from West Washington Street to West Franklin Street, Monday, October 30 through Thursday, November 2, 2023, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00PM each day. The City of Nelsonville announces that the Public Square area will be closed on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 9:00 AM in preparation for the Southeastern Ohio Rainbow Alliance, Nelsonville Pride Day. The Public Square will remain closed until Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 11:00 PM.
Additionally, Stuart’s Opera House will be closing East Washington Street from Fort Street to 40 E Washington Street on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 11:00 PM, for their Mozart and Beethoven with the Columbus Symphony event.
These full street closures with NO limited access are due to pedestrian safety concerns for the events. The following streets will be closed to all traffic:

The City of Nelsonville has extended the closure of Pleasantview Avenue from Woodlane Drive to Diamond Street to traffic until at least Monday, September 25, 2023. The closure is being extended due to crews having difficulty boring through rock to replace the broken 8-inch water line under Pleasantview Avenue. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.
The Nelsonville Fire Department will be closing the Nelsonville Public Square on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM for a 9-11 memorial service. The memorial service will start at 8:46 AM, the time American Airlines Flight 11, flew into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Additional times will be commemorated at,
Local emergency responders, along with the citizens they protect, will take time out of their workday to commemorate the terrorist attacks in New York City, and Washington, D.C., and the bravery of the passengers that went down with the plane in Shanksville, PA on September 11, 2001. The commemoration ceremonies will honor the 2,507 civilians, 72 law enforcement officers, 343 firefighters, 10 emergency medical workers, and 55 military service personnel who lost their lives, or gave their lives saving others. Many first responders are still fighting for their lives, and others are losing their lives, because of their response to Ground Zero. Each year we lose a few more.
