The Nelsonville City Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at City Hall. The meeting has been called to discuss and take possible action on the following items,

  • Make appointments for 3 open seats on city council
  • Elect city council officers

Nelsonville announces the 2025 Let It Glow Holiday Decorating Contest. Entry open until 12 noon, Fri, 12/19/2025, so get your entries in early

The City of Nelsonville announces the 2025 Let It Glow Holiday Decorating Contest. The city wants you to bring out your best holiday lights, bows, bells and favorite outdoor holiday decorations to help welcome Santa Claus to our town.

Contest participation is open to all residents and businesses in the City of Nelsonville and entry is FREE.

RULES:

  • Limited to outdoor displays and decorations.
  • Judging will be based on curb appeal as viewed from a vehicle.
  • The contest is a fun, family-friendly event. Please keep your displays G-Rated and child friendly.
  • Participants agree to have photos of their decorated homes and businesses posted on the city website, social media channels and a Let It Glow Holiday Decorations map.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

  • Overall appearance 30%, (effort & attractiveness)
  • Creativity 30%, (originality, unique design and/or use of storyline or theme)
  • Lights and Decorations 25%, (display and placement)
  • Special effects 15%, (sounds, animations, etc.)

To enter submit one (1) photo by Email to administration@cityofnelsonville.com. Please include in the Email your full name and address and display theme and description. Contest entry will be open until 12 noon, Friday, December 19, 2025. Neighborhoods will be judged for best decorated street in the city. Photos will be posted to Facebook for citizen votes, so get those photos sent early.

The City of Nelsonville Utilities Committee will hold a meeting on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 6:00PM at City Hall. The meeting is being held to discuss the city’s trash hauling contract.

2025 Nelsonville Christmas Basket applications online at https://tinyurl.com/46akcuuz, must be submitted by Sat, 12/6/25

2025 Nelsonville/ York Christmas Basket applications will be available at the Nelsonville Fire Department or Water Department and online starting Friday, November 28, 2025. To apply online go to https://tinyurl.com/46akcuuz, to safely complete and submit an application. You can also scan the posted QR code to access the site on a smartphone.

Anyone applying IS NOT guaranteed to receive a Christmas Basket. All applicants MUST BE RESIDENTS OF NELSONVILLE OR YORK TOWNSHIP. Applications will be available starting Friday, November 28, 2025. Applications must be submitted by Saturday, December 6, 2025. Baskets are scheduled to be delivered on Saturday, December 20, 2025, starting at 8:00 am.
