The Nelsonville City Council will hold a regular Council meeting on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 7:00PM in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Citizens comments and business and organizational comments may be made in person or Emailed to nelsonvillecity@gmail.com by 1PM, Monday, November 14, 2022. Nelsonville boil order for 1374, 1389, 1393, 1400 E Canal St and Elm Rock Road until Fri, 11/11/22, at 12PM

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for water customers at 1374, 1389, 1393, 1400 East Canal Street and all of Elm Rock Road. The boil order will be in effect until Friday, November 11, 2022, at 12:00PM, unless notified otherwise. This boil order is due to a leak repair on a water line.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three minutes before being consumed.

Athens Co RED FLAG WARNING Wed, 11/9/22 10AM to 6PM, low humidity, gusty winds, dry fuels, no open burning!

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Athens County due to the combination of low relative humidity and gusty winds, which is in effect from 10 AM to 6 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

Timing… 10 AM to 6 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

Winds…Southeast 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. The stronger winds are expected across mountainous counties.

Relative Humidity…As low as 17 to 19 percent.

Temperatures…In the mid-60s to lower 70s across the lowlands. In the mid-50s to lower 60s across the mountains.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Increased potential for fire danger Tue, 11/8/22, fires could become out of control, no outdoor burning

Due to very dry conditions continuing across the area and 10 to 20 mph wind gusts expected during the day, there will be an increased potential for fire danger.

Fires that start today could spread and become out of control; therefore, outdoor burning is not recommended, Tuesday, 11/8/22.

Ohio Revised Code (ORC) 1503.18 prohibits open burning from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during October, and November.

The City of Nelsonville Street Department will start curbside leaf pick-up on Monday, November 7, 2022, and continue every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until Friday, December 16, 2022. Leaf pick-up will depend on the weather conditions.

Follow these steps for curbside leaf pick-up.

  1. Rake leaves to curbside, DO NOT include branches, sticks, grass clippings or tall grass. These can clog and damage the equipment and cause delays. City crews will not be raking any leaves.
  2. DO NOT rake leaves into the street. This can clog storm drains.
  3. DO NOT pile leaves around fire hydrants, street signs or utility poles.
  4. DO NOT PARK in front of leaf piles on pick-up days.
  5. When your leaves are curbside and ready, schedule curbside leaf pick-up by using Nelsonville’s “TextMyGov, text “Hi” to 740-265-3858 and a series of texts will guide you through the reporting process, or call, 740-753-1314, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.
