ATHENS COUNTY LEVEL 2 SNOW EMERGENCY

Athens County is under a LEVEL 2 SNOW EMERGENCY.  Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be very icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.

Winter Weather Advisory

Winter weather advisory in effect for Athens County from 4AM Saturday, 1/12/19 until 7AM Sunday, 1/13/19.

  • WHAT – Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts of up to 5 inches expected. A period of a rain snow mix is possible across parts of West Virginia Saturday afternoon.
  • WHERE – Portions of southeast Ohio and central, northeast and northern West Virginia.
  • WHEN – From 4 AM Saturday to 7 AM Sunday.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS – Plan on slippery road conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
