THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH FOR ATHENS COUNTY, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10AM FRIDAY 1/22 THROUGH 4PM SATURDAY 1/23.
- HAZARD – HEAVY SNOW.
- SNOW ACCUMULATIONS – POTENTIAL OF 4 TO 8 INCHES.
- TIMING – STARTING MIDDAY FRIDAY.
- WINDS – GUSTS NEAR 25 MPH.
- IMPACTS – TRAVEL SEVERELY IMPACTED
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. IF POSSIBLE, CHANGE YOUR TRAVEL PLANS TO AVOID EXTENSIVE DRIVING DURING THIS PERIOD.
