  • 12:00PM, Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Thursday, December 25, 2025, and Friday, December 26, 2025.
  • Thursday, January 1, 2026, and Friday, January 2, 2026.

City offices will be open for business on all other days for regular hours.

Nelsonville boil order for Myers St, North St and Monroe St from Myers to the dead end until 4PM, Fri, 12/19/2025, boil cooking and drinking water three (3) minutes before consuming

The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for Myers Street, North Street and Monroe Street from Myers Street to the dead end.

This boil order is due to a water main break and repair. The boil order will be in effect for the area until 4:00PM, Friday, December 19, 2025.

When a boil order is in effect, we ask all who are affected to boil their cooking and drinking water for three (3) minutes before being consumed.

The City of Nelsonville is accepting letters of interest and resumes for the position of city auditor. This position is for the charter auditors remaining term until December 1, 2027. The position responsibilities are as follows:

  • The City Auditor is a Full-time non-partisan position making $60,000 per year.
  • The position includes the following benefits:
    • Health, vision, dental, life insurance coverages
    • OPERS retirement membership
    • Ohio 457 availability
    • Flexible hours
    • Opportunities for training and growth
  • The charter requires a candidate to be a resident and qualified elector for one (1) year before the election. So effectively, qualified candidates should be a resident/elector before November of 2026.
  • There is an expectation that the candidate will be available for shadowing and training before the 1-1-2026 start date.
  • The position will be responsible for a range of duties
    • Maintaining the City’s accounting books and ledger. Overseeing all revenue into the City and all expenses out of the city, except Mayor’s Court which is managed elsewhere
    • Check writing and meticulous record keeping for accounts payable
    • Payroll processing
    • Managing the annual audit
    • Benefits and pension management
    • Managing and supervising the collection and processing of the City’s 1.75% income tax.
    • Representing the City at a range of public and regional events and trainings
    • Reporting to council monthly
    • A range of annual, quarterly, and monthly report generation and submission to a long list of state, federal, and partner agencies
    • Managing 3 full time staff members
    • Fiduciary duty to the City taxpayer and financial advisor to the City Council
    • A range of other duties and responsibilities.
    • The candidate must produce a $1,000,000 public service bond to take the position. The costs of the bond policy are to be paid by the City.
