The City of Nelsonville announces that the following City Council Committees will be holding meetings on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at City Hall.

6:00 PM – Parks and Recreation

  • Nelsonville Commons Park Plans.

6:45PM – Finance Committee

  • Police Department Educational Incentive
  • Majestic Galleries’ request for funding for “Sober Jam Sessions” program
  • Continue discussion on 2026 Budget preparations and end-of-year ordinance to reconcile budget line items
  • Review information on council member pay in comparable municipalities
  • Other business as identified between now and the 16th
  • Police Department Budget
  • All other appropriations

  • Council may go into a brief executive session in compliance with the Ohio Revised Code 121.22(g) to discuss pending litigation before the Ohio Supreme Court that involves the City.
  • Possible report from the City Attorney.
  • Public comment.
  • Council discussion.

The City of Nelsonville Finance Committee held a meeting on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 7:15 PM at City Hall. The meeting was held to discuss,

  • $1,000 appropriation to the Code Enforcement’s operating supplies for fuel.
  • Classifying the secretary position so that they can sign a union card.
  • The committee previously sent to full council the authorization to place nuisance fees against the property tax card, however it did not make it to the agenda somehow. They still need that authorization.
  • Jeff Traugh back pay.
  • Ad Hoc Clerk Pay
  • Mr. Holmes would like to suggest a Clerk for the committees to do minutes. (i.e. $50 per meeting; max of $2,500)

  • Discuss Rumpke tying into sanitary sewer at Scenic Lane.

6:30PM – Planning and Development Committee

  • Public square fountain
  • DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area)

7:15PM – Finance Committee

  • $1,000 appropriation to the Code Enforcement’s operating supplies for fuel.
